Hi, my name is Rebecca Bristow. Congratulations on your upcoming addition!

I am a DONA certified birth doula and local to the Abilene area with my husband and son. Having been raised in Callahan County, I enjoyed farming and horseback riding alongside my four brothers. My dream was always to become a labor and delivery nurse, as I loved babies and liked helping families. After the birth of my son and becoming familiar with the term “doula”, I began reading and researching what this “doula stuff” was all about. I was hooked and realized that nursing school might be in my future, but as for now, becoming a doula was where my journey would begin.

In May 2011, I went to doula training in Dallas and began the certification process. I was so amazed and empowered by everything I learned that I could not wait to start serving expectant moms and their families. These past few years I have been a part of many different birth experiences. Every mom-to-be has her own birth expectations and no one birth is the same. I have been honored to work with women and help them achieve those expectations, “their way”, by educating, empowering, listening, and supporting them throughout pregnancy, labor and birth.

So that my clients get the best of care, I continue to educate myself on pregnancy and childbirth through recent research, books, and articles along with becoming familiar with local resources in the Big Country. I want women to know what options are available to them.

My goal as your doula is to empower, educate and encourage you throughout this joyful time in your life. I would love to help you and your partner to make your wishes known.

Call me today for your “FREE” consultation so you can have the birth experience you deserve and have longed for, for the past nine months.

Here's what a few others are saying about Rebecca:

Rebecca attended my last two births as my doula and was a continuous support during my pregnancy, labor, delivery, & the postpartum period. She helped me suceed in meeting my goals of natural delivery both times and when I had breastfeeding problems afterwards she was always available at any hour to comfort and educate me and seek out resources. She was the voice of reason, speaking words of encouragement during each contraction. After delivery she even offered to go run out & bring us back dinner! She also offered to help take a few pictures to capture some sweet moments with my precoous blessings. After each delivery my husband remarked to me later that "She was worth every dime!" Her presence allowed my husband to be calm, knowing that any need I had, she was quick to respond with a possible solution. I praise the Lord he sent me Rebecca to aid in accomplishing bringing two beautiful babies into this world.

Rebecca was a wonderful doula! My husband and I were happy to have her by our sides on the biggest day of our life - the birth of our beautiful daughter. During the pregnancy Rebecca helped me feel prepared and confident in my ability to have the natural childbirth experience I wanted. Due to being informed and supported, we were able to have just that. Rebecca showed up at our home and helped us stay calm and focused until it was time to go to the hospital. Once there she was an encouraging presence. Unbeknownst to me she even captured photographs with our camera of our daughter's first few minutes with us. She also visited the next day and stayed in touch. We were pleased with her services and would definitely recommend her.

Rebecca was such a blessing to us during this special time! She made the pregnancy and delivery a joy! She made us feel so secure, peaceful and educated. I could not have done it without her! Even after the birth she came by and called many times to make sure our family was ok! It was wonderful to know that I had someone to call anytime I had questions or concerns about anything. Throughout this experience, I felt like Rebecca became a good friend to us, and I am so grateful for all the time and expertise she shared with us!

Rebecca is a treasure! There's so much I could say about her. She helped me bring my last two babies earthside in unmedicated births - one in the hospital and one at home. I'm so grateful for her support and love as she gently and confidently encouraged me throughout the birthing process. She was there to answer questions and check-in with me before the birth day, she was invaluable during the big day, and she is still my friend who checks on me even as my babies grow into toddlers. I would recommend her doula services to any expectant mom.

Rebecca attended the birth of my third child. It was an unmedicated hospital birth and Rebecca was amazing. She coached me through every contraction while either walking the halls, sitting on the ball or resting in the bed. I believe she was there for 16 or 17 hours! I highly recommend her. She has already attended the births of several of my friends as well and everybody says only the best things say about her.

Rebecca was such a blessing to my family. She helped us to be as prepared as possible for a VBAC. She was more than happy to drive out to the middle of no where to teach comfort measures. She was great support before, during, and after the birth of our baby. She also did as much or as little as I needed or wanted during my labor. She was a great fit for us and I absolutly love her and her services.

Rebecca attended the birth of my second child. She was wonderful and was so very helpful to have by my side throughout the whole process. She helped with many relaxation techniques during my labor which helped me have a easy and fast delivery. Her techniques also helped with my pain which allowed me to deliver drug free. I would highly recommend her to anyone who is expecting a baby. If I have a third, I will be using her again.
